This Privacy Policy explains how BuildWithPros collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit, use, or make a purchase through buildwithpros.com.

The full policy below is what applies. This summary is here to help you find your way.

  • What is collected: what you give when you order, create an account, sign up for the newsletter, book coaching or Training with Shawn Ray Day, contact support or leave a review, plus cookie data with your consent and a log of when purchased files are downloaded. See Section 3.
  • Why: to deliver your order, keep the books, send the newsletter you asked for, protect purchased files from unauthorized sharing, and keep the site secure. See Section 5.
  • Who sees it: the service providers that run the store (Shopify, Fileflare, Shipmondo, Visma e-conomic and others), Shawn Ray when you book coaching or the day, and Google and Meta only if you accept marketing cookies. See Section 8.
  • Your rights: access, correction, deletion, objection, and withdrawal of consent at any time. Write to legal@buildwithpros.com. See Section 12.
  • Cookies: only strictly necessary cookies are set without consent. Change your choice any time in the consent settings. See Section 7.

1. Introduction

BuildWithPros ApS ("BuildWithPros") operates the website buildwithpros.com (the "Services"), the official digital store of IFBB Hall of Famer Shawn Ray. This Privacy Policy explains how BuildWithPros collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit, use, or make a purchase through the Services.

BuildWithPros is the data controller for personal data processed through the Services, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") and the Danish Data Protection Act (databeskyttelsesloven).

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

3. Personal Data Collected

Depending on how you interact with the Services, BuildWithPros may collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact details: name, billing address, shipping address, phone number, email address.
  • Payment information: payment card details and transaction information (processed securely by Shopify Payments; BuildWithPros does not store full card numbers).
  • Account information: the email address used to sign in, preferences, and order history. Customer accounts do not use passwords, so no account password is collected or stored.
  • Transaction data: items viewed, added to cart, purchased, returned, or canceled.
  • Communications: messages and information sent through customer support, email, or chat.
  • Booking data for coaching and Training with Shawn Ray Day: name, email address, phone number, preferred location and dates, whether a guest is coming, the goals and training background you choose to describe, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older. Please do not include health information in the free-text field; it is not needed to arrange the day.
  • Newsletter and marketing data: email address, name (if provided), signup source, signup date and timestamp, consent status, email engagement (opens, clicks), unsubscribe events, and any preferences you select when signing up.
  • Delivery and access logs: the date and time of each download or stream of a purchased digital product, the file accessed, the order it belongs to, and the network address the access was made from. These logs are described in full in the License and Usage Terms.
  • Reviews: product reviews you submit through Judge.me.
  • Purchase notification data: the city and country from your order address and the name of the product purchased, used to display anonymized recent-purchase notifications on the Services. Customer names are never displayed in these notifications.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, interaction events.
  • Marketing data: consent status, email engagement, advertising identifiers.

4. How Personal Data Is Collected

  • Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, sign up for the newsletter, book coaching or Training with Shawn Ray Day, contact customer support, or submit a review.
  • Automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you visit the Services (subject to your consent where required).
  • Automatically when you open or download a purchased digital product, through the delivery and access logs described in Section 3.
  • From service providers such as Shopify, payment processors, and shipping partners who process data on behalf of BuildWithPros.

5. Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing

Under GDPR Article 6, BuildWithPros processes personal data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Order fulfillment, product delivery, returns. Performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Account management and customer support. Performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Arranging coaching sessions and Training with Shawn Ray Day, including passing your booking details to Shawn Ray. Performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Transactional emails, including order confirmations, digital delivery emails and shipping notifications. Performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Bookkeeping, tax, and consumer law compliance. Legal obligation (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • Newsletter and marketing emails, meaning free guides, training and nutrition tips and tricks, product offers, and discount codes. Consent, withdrawable at any time (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and Danish Marketing Practices Act §10).
  • Marketing cookies (Meta Pixel via Parkour, Google Analytics 4 through the Google and YouTube channel, YouTube preview video embeds). Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and ePrivacy Directive).
  • Functional cookies and local storage (Judge.me, Selleasy, Selecty, qikify), used for review submission, cross-sell offers, product recommendations, and how often purchase notifications are shown during a visit. Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and ePrivacy Directive).
  • Strictly necessary cookies (cart, checkout, security, consent management). Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Logging delivery and access to purchased digital products, in order to detect and act on unauthorized sharing or redistribution of licensed files. Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Fraud prevention and IT security. Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Product recommendations and cross-sell (Selleasy, Selecty). Legitimate interest, or consent where required (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) or 6(1)(a)).
  • Display of recent purchase activity on the Services (qikify), showing anonymized purchase notifications containing city, country, and product name only, with no customer names. Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Defending or pursuing legal claims. Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

6. Newsletter and Email Marketing

BuildWithPros operates an email newsletter managed entirely through Shopify Email, the email marketing tool built into Shopify. No third-party newsletter platform is used.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, you receive free guides and educational content based on Shawn Ray.

Consent and unsubscribing. You provide consent when you sign up, and you can withdraw it at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or by contacting legal@buildwithpros.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect emails that are necessary to fulfill an order, such as order confirmations, digital delivery emails and shipping notifications. These are sent on the basis of contract performance rather than marketing consent, and contain no promotional content.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Services use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember your preferences, measure performance, and, where you have given consent, support marketing. Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit the Services.

  • Strictly necessary cookies are required for core functions such as the shopping cart, checkout, security, and consent management. These are set on the basis of legitimate interest and do not require consent.
  • Functional cookies and local storage (Judge.me, Selleasy, Selecty, qikify) support review submission, cross-sell offers, product recommendations, and control how often recent-purchase notifications appear during your visit. They do not track you across websites and are not used for advertising. These are set only with your consent.
  • Marketing cookies (Meta Pixel via Parkour, Google Analytics 4 through the Google and YouTube channel, and YouTube preview video embeds) are used to measure site traffic and campaign performance and to support advertising. These are set only with your consent.

Site performance is also monitored through Shopify's built-in analytics, which does not set cookies beyond those listed as strictly necessary.

Managing your choice. Consent for functional and marketing cookies is managed through the consent banner provided by Pandectes GDPR. You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time through the consent settings on the Services. Where technically possible, BuildWithPros also respects the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal and treats it as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies. Most browsers additionally allow you to block or delete cookies, though doing so may affect how parts of the Services function.

8. Sharing of Personal Data

BuildWithPros does not sell personal data for money. Personal data is shared with service providers (data processors) who process it on behalf of BuildWithPros to operate the Services, and only to the extent necessary for each provider's function. These providers act under data processing agreements that require them to protect your data and use it only as instructed.

The categories of recipients are:

  • E-commerce platform and hosting: Shopify (store operation, customer accounts, Shopify Payments, Shopify Email, Shopify Forms, Shopify Messaging, Shopify Flow, Shopify Search and Discovery, Shopify Analytics).
  • Digital product delivery: Fileflare (delivery of video, audiobook, and PDF download links, and the delivery and access logs described in Section 3).
  • Transactional email: WorkflowMail (sending order-related notifications and digital delivery emails).
  • Shipping and fulfillment: Shipmondo and the carriers used for physical delivery (name, address, and contact details required to deliver orders).
  • Accounting and bookkeeping: Visma e-conomic, through the Visma e-conomic sync integration (invoicing and statutory bookkeeping).
  • Reviews: Judge.me (collection and display of product reviews you submit).
  • Analytics and marketing: Google (Google Analytics 4 through the Google and YouTube channel) and Meta (Meta Pixel via Parkour), where you have given consent.
  • Product recommendations: Selleasy and Selecty (cross-sell and recommendation features).
  • Social proof display: qikify (retrieval of order data to display anonymized recent-purchase notifications showing city, country, and product name).
  • Security and bot protection: Cloudflare (protecting the Services against automated abuse).
  • Consent management: Pandectes GDPR (recording and managing your cookie consent).
  • Discount codes: Dyno Discount Codes (generating and applying discount codes).
  • Store administration tools: software used by BuildWithPros' administrator to manage products, pages and orders, including AI-assisted tools, which may process order and customer data on BuildWithPros' behalf.

Shawn Ray. When you buy coaching or request Training with Shawn Ray Day, BuildWithPros passes your name, email address, phone number and the details you give in the booking form to Shawn Ray, who delivers the sessions or the day personally and contacts you directly to arrange them. Shawn Ray receives only what is needed to deliver what you have booked. He is based in the United States; see Section 9.

Meta and US state privacy laws. Where marketing cookies are active, the Meta Pixel shares data with Meta for advertising measurement and targeting. No payment is received for this, but under certain United States state privacy laws that activity may still be classified as a "sale", "sharing", or "targeted advertising". Residents of those states can opt out on the Your Privacy Choices page. Declining marketing cookies in the consent settings has the same effect for the browser you are using.

BuildWithPros may also disclose personal data where required by law, to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

9. International Transfers

BuildWithPros is based in Denmark, but several of the service providers that run the store process personal data outside the EU and EEA. This includes Shopify (United States and Canada), Google (Google Analytics 4), Meta (Meta Pixel via Parkour), Cloudflare, and app providers such as Fileflare, Judge.me, Selleasy, Selecty and qikify, whose infrastructure and sub-processors may be located in the United States or other countries outside the EU and EEA.

Order data used to generate anonymized recent-purchase notifications is processed by qikify on the basis of legitimate interest rather than consent, and the data involved is limited to city, country, and product name.

Booking details for coaching and Training with Shawn Ray Day are passed to Shawn Ray in the United States. This transfer is necessary for the performance of the contract you have asked for (GDPR Article 49(1)(b)).

Safeguards. Where personal data is transferred outside the EU and EEA, BuildWithPros relies on the safeguards required under GDPR Chapter V, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the provider's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Transfers for marketing purposes occur only where you have given consent.

You can prevent marketing transfers by declining marketing cookies in the consent settings on the Services.

10. Retention of Personal Data

BuildWithPros keeps personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as required by law.

  • Order, invoice, and transaction data: 5 years from the end of the relevant financial year, in accordance with the Danish Bookkeeping Act (bogføringsloven).
  • Customer account data: for as long as the account remains active; deleted on request or after a prolonged period of inactivity.
  • Booking data for coaching and Training with Shawn Ray Day: until the sessions or the day have been delivered and any related questions are settled, after which the booking record follows the retention period for order data.
  • Newsletter and marketing data: until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe, after which it is removed from active marketing use.
  • Delivery and access logs: for as long as the digital download remains available on the order. Where a specific access record forms part of a suspected case of unauthorized distribution, it may be retained beyond that point for the purpose of establishing, exercising, or defending a legal claim.
  • Purchase notification data: only while the underlying order falls within the lookback window used for these notifications, after which it is removed from the display rotation.
  • Support communications: for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and a reasonable period afterwards.

When personal data is no longer needed and no legal obligation requires its retention, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

11. Security

BuildWithPros takes appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, and alteration. Payment data is handled securely by Shopify Payments, and BuildWithPros does not store full payment card numbers. Customer accounts are passwordless: signing in uses a one-time code sent to your email address, so there is no account password to be stored or compromised.

While BuildWithPros works to protect your personal data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, BuildWithPros will notify the relevant supervisory authority and affected individuals as required by GDPR.

12. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right of access: to obtain confirmation of whether your data is processed and a copy of that data.
  • The right to rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
  • The right to erasure: to have your data deleted where there is no overriding legal basis to retain it.
  • The right to restriction: to limit how your data is processed in certain circumstances.
  • The right to data portability: to receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • The right to object: to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to object to direct marketing at any time.
  • The right to withdraw consent: to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

If you do not want your order to appear in the anonymized recent-purchase notifications described in this policy, contact legal@buildwithpros.com and it will be excluded.

Residents of certain United States states have additional rights under state privacy law, including the right to opt out of activity that may be considered a sale or sharing of personal information. Those rights are described in Section 30 of the Terms of Service, and the opt-out itself is available on the Your Privacy Choices page.

How to exercise your rights. Contact legal@buildwithpros.com. BuildWithPros will respond within the timeframe required by GDPR, normally within one month. There is no charge for exercising your rights, although a reasonable fee may apply to manifestly unfounded or excessive requests.

13. Children's Data

The Services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old. BuildWithPros does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal data to BuildWithPros, please contact legal@buildwithpros.com and the data will be deleted.

14. Profiling and Automated Decisions

BuildWithPros does not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.

  • Recommendations: where product recommendations or cross-sell features (Selleasy, Selecty) suggest content based on browsing or purchase behavior, this does not produce legal effects and you can object to it by contacting legal@buildwithpros.com or by declining the relevant cookies.
  • Recent-purchase notifications are not personalized. They show the same anonymized order information to every visitor and are not based on any profile of you.
  • Delivery and access logs are used to detect unauthorized sharing of purchased files. They are reviewed by a person before any action is taken, and no account is restricted on the basis of an automated decision alone.

If you have a concern about how BuildWithPros handles your personal data, please contact legal@buildwithpros.com first so the matter can be resolved directly.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), Carl Jacobsens Vej 35, 2500 Valby, Denmark, at www.datatilsynet.dk. If you reside in another EU or EEA country, you may also contact the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

16. Third-Party Links

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or embedded content from third-party platforms. BuildWithPros is not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. This Privacy Policy applies only to the Services, and you are encouraged to review the privacy policy of any third-party site or platform you visit.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

BuildWithPros may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Services, technology, or legal requirements. The latest version is always published on BuildWithPros.com with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated where required by law. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
